How to make sure the food you are buying is safe?

One of the keys to any successful Food Safety Program is to "know who you are buying from." In order to do this, food suppliers' facilities should be inspected on a regular basis either by your own auditors, approved 3rd party auditors or combinations of the two methods. This must be done in a comprehensive but cost effective manner.

Intertek has extensive experience in understanding how to develop, implement and validate/verify supplier-auditing programs. We offer comprehensive services in this regard such as:

1.FQA_ Factory Quality Assessment

This audit is usually performed before you place an order to a factory, aiming to examine the factory's production capability, machinery, management and quality procedures, operations and processed. We will brief your quality requirements to make sure that appropriate factories are used and our quality specification thoroughly understood by the factories.

2.PPI_Pre-Production Inspection

PPI happens before actual production begins, with the approved samples provided by you, we will counter check the raw materials ,components and accessories for the ordered merchandise to detect any potential defect. We will randomly select some semi-finished products for checking and report our findings to you and also give technical advice to the factory to minimize the chance of having defects during actual production.

3, DPI_ During Production Inspection

Normally carried out when 10_15% of goods are completed, DPI is designed not only for checking if the works are manufacturing with good manufacturing practice to avoid any potential quality risk , but also for shipment with substantial quantity, product line with continuous production and high requirement for on time shipment, also re-check defects discovered in PPI and make sure they have been rectified if there is any.

4.FRI  Final Random Inspection

Commencing when the merchandise are completed or at least 80% are ready and well packed , we have FRI to check on safety, quantity, workmanship, function, color, size, packing, etc. to ensure the function and appearance of the products are consistent and satisfactory to the requirements and specifications defined by you.

5.Loading Supervision

Monitoring the loading process and checking on quantity, weight, color, size and good packing etc. by random samples  and proper handling of the cargos. The container(s) being witnessed will then be sealed, if required, with Intertek seal tape. This service reduces the importation risk of important cargos. Frankly speaking , I think this will make the empty boxes far away from you.

Normally, 1 day is needed for each of the above service and the charge will depend on the actual aspects such as your requirements, samples quantity and checking items.
